Fuso NZ joins Women in Trucking

Inclusivity is a core value of Fuso NZ and the company is now putting its weight behind the Women in Trucking Association (WIT) to attract more women to roles within the sector. In doing so, it aims to be a leading voice for increased opportunity and greater diversity within the workforce.           

“We’re a people-focused business,” said Fuso NZ managing director Kurtis Andrews. “We are committed to delivering better for our customers across the board, part of which means helping to encourage and enable more women into the industry.

“From an industry perspective, it is not only about diversity but about meeting the demand for drivers and other roles.”

Fuso NZ general manager of sales Kathy Schluter said that women have a lot to offer and to gain from being involved with the transport sector.

“It’s a cool industry to work in, full of great people and dedicated operators, who are actively engaged in evolving the industry to make it safe and rewarding for those within it,” said Schluter.

“Whichever way you look at it, getting more women into transport, whether as a driver, technician or administrator, can only be a good thing. There is a lot we can learn from others to help develop a more progressive approach to diversity; being aligned to an international organisation such as WIT provides an opportunity to draw on that experience.

“Fuso NZ wants to be at the forefront of supporting positive change across the sector, whether it be creating more inclusive working environments or changing the perception of working in transport,” said Schluter.
