Whether ensuring residents in remote areas have access to power in the event of storm damage, or keeping a temporary ice rink in a state fit for skating, Generator Rentals has it covered.
“We have generators for any power supply requirements, from 230 volts to 22,000 volts,” says Gary. “There is no project too big or too small for us to handle.
“We are much more than just a hire company; we provide complete end-to-end solutions for a huge range of industrial and commercial applications. First and foremost, our focus is on outstanding customer service.”
The company has been delivering on that promise since it was founded by Michael Redgrave in 1997. Operating out of depots in Auckland and Tauranga, a mixed fleet of 33 trucks services the whole of the North Island.
FUSO has a considerable presence in the fleet – largely due to being voted the drivers’ favourite brand.
“Michael bought a second-hand FUSO tractor unit some years ago and before buying his next truck he asked the drivers what they preferred driving. They were unanimous in saying FUSO, so more have been added over the years,” says Gary. “They’re good value for money and we now have a mix of HD, Fighter and Canter, making up around a third of our fleet.”
The latest addition is a 6x4 HD FV2447 Tractor. Fitted with a semi-trailer unit and 20ft semi-swing lift, the 24T unit is on standby as an emergency callout vehicle for moving heavy generators into tight spaces.
“A lot of our work is in response to requests for emergency power supply. Rain or hail, day or night, we’re on call 24/7 and will move heaven and hell to deliver what our customers need,” says Gary.
“At the end of the day, you’ve got to have good trucks to maintain service expectations on both sides of the relationship.
“The HD is a good fit – it has a low tare weight, so with the trailer and crane there’s still enough capacity for our 12-tonne, 22,000 volt power units, and plenty of power on the road.”
Generator Rentals has a lot more power on the road than most – with help from FUSO, they are ensuring the connection with customers is never broken.
