The ultimate Kiwi workmate just got better!
The market-leading FUSO Canter enhances its reputation with Advanced Safety Features now standard across the 4x2 range and several upgrades for improved comfort and safety, building upon the trusted reliability, efficiency and driver protection that New Zealand’s favourite light-duty truck is renowned for.
For more than 50 years, FUSO Canter has been a trusted Kiwi workmate across industries as diverse as civil contracting, construction, landscaping, general freight, food delivery, traffic management and more. Now, the new 2024 model-year Canter builds on its market-leading position with driver safety and comfort front of mind.
For the first time, Advanced Safety Features come as standard across the 4x2 range, including Active Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Electronic Braking System, and Electronic Stability Control.
Additionally, new LED head lights, fog lamps and indicators provide enhanced visibility in poor conditions – both for the driver and other motorists – while inside the cab, a new, larger eight-inch touchscreen multimedia unit delivers improved functionality and on-the-go useability.
The on-dash touchscreen relays images from the rear-mounted reversing camera and works with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for text-to-speech and hands-free talking. Up to six additional cameras can be added as optional extras.
Improving on a light-duty legend
The new Canter stands out from the crowd with its all-new, stylish front grille design, flanked by the new LED lighting arrangement that both looks good and delivers improved performance.
Range highlights include the ever-popular Canter Tipper with limited slip differential and the class-leading DUONIC 2.0 automated transmission, available across various models, for smoother, more economical driving.
Highly adaptable for multiple applications, there are 29 models in the 2024 Canter range, excluding derate options, with wheelbases from 2500mm to 4750mm up to 9T GVM.
“Over several decades, Canter has been one of the most popular light trucks in New Zealand – a tried and trusted investment for single-unit owner-operators to giant multinationals,” said Fuso New Zealand general manager Kevin Smith.
“We understand what operators expect from a truck and remain committed to delivering on that across all categories. We’re also placing a priority on the wellbeing of drivers, which is critical to the health of our industry.
“In terms of efficiency and performance, FUSO’s DUONIC automated manual transmission is still best-in-class and Canter Tipper remains the only light-duty truck in New Zealand to feature a limited slip differential.
“We were also the first truck brand in New Zealand to introduce Advanced Safety Features across our light, medium and heavy-duty ranges. Now these come as standard across the 4x2 Canter range.”
Class-leading warranty
Canter operators have the option of Fuso New Zealand’s industry-best 5-year / 200,000km bumper-to-bumper extended warranty – up from the standard 3-year / 100,000km.
“The optional extension delivers a huge amount of value at no additional cost, with the only stipulation being that the truck is serviced at an authorised FUSO dealer,” said Smith.
